SAVE THE DATE

August 17 – 20, 2009
Boston, USA

The Call for Abstracts has begun!

The venue will be the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at the Harvard Medical School, which is located in downtown Boston, close to hotels, public transportation, an international airport, as well as shopping and tourist sites.

Key highlights of the conference:
The X2009 conference will be organized to provide an international platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in exposure assessment research and practice related to preventing work-related health effects. X2009 will further research into and dissemination of state-of-the-art methodologies to assess exposures as causal factors of work-related conditions and health effects; and to enhance the translation of exposure assessment research into the practice of occupational hygiene. This translation of research to practice will promote effective interventions aimed at the prevention of disease, disability, and impairment associated with work.

The International Scientific Committee and the Local Organizing Committee have identified three theme areas for X2009: Exposure Biology, Identifying Determinants of Exposure, and Dose for Biomechanics Studies. The fourth theme is yet to be determined. These themes will be addressed in four mini-symposia, one each morning. Each mini-symposium will have a keynote talk on the theme, followed by breakout sessions on the theme. Each session will have up to 4 papers, 10 minutes in length with 20 minutes for discussion.

The afternoons will be devoted to concurrent sessions. Blocks of 4 or 8 papers will be presented in titled sessions on a set of more general themes. Each paper will have 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion, or 15 minutes to talk and 5 minutes for questions.

Who should attend:
Scientists, policy makers, and practitioners in occupational and environmental health and safety from a wide variety of settings, including academia, government, and industry. Practitioners and researchers from the fields of exposure assessment, industrial and occupational hygiene, environmental sciences, epidemiology, risk assessment, and public health policy will find that X2009 provides the ideal forum for presentation and discussion on innovations in exposure assessment for occupational epidemiology and hygiene.
